While CareSpotlight.com is a nationwide resource, our in-person Patient & Resident Advocacy Services are available only in the Northeast Ohio Area.

CareSpotlight offers the following services for residents/patients and their families:
*Short & Long-term Care Coordination & Management
*Care Planning & Crisis Consultations
*Patient/Resident Advocacy
*Residential Care Transitions 
*"Beyond Driving with Dignity” Self-Assessments for Older Drivers

Resident Visitation & Advocacy:
for families with loved ones living in long-term care settings (i.e. assisted living communities, nursing homes, group/community homes). We can also visit individuals in their own homes and manage their home care services.

Patient Visitation & Advocacy:
for individuals/families that need someone to visit and advocate for their loved one(s) during their stay in a short- or long-term care setting (i.e. hospital, rehabilitation center, skilled nursing facility). This need might arise from an accident, crisis or a planned surgery/procedure.

General Patient Advocacy Services:
for individuals/families seeking an advocate for medical appointments, medical procedures/surgeries. We will serve as the liaison between the family and the doctor/medical team/facility (per individual/family authorization).

​Care Planning & Crisis Consultation Services: 
care and residential transition consultations (planned & crisis) with individuals and families (in-person/phone).
Whether you have concerns regarding your loved one's care, need assistance, or simply desire some peace of mind, we can help.

While we offer different types of visits depending on what the family needs, our standard Visitation & Reporting Service will include:


  • (scheduled or surprise) in-person visitation with loved one(s) - families can request extended visitation time.
  • thorough evaluation of surroundings, services, offerings, etc. - includes a checklist.
  • address any special requests and/or concerns that the family may have.
  • (when authorized by family) have access to patient/resident medical information in order to communicate appropriately with medical professionals/team and advocate for client.
  • phone call and written report to family.

​Can also meet with administration/staff regarding any concerns - upon family request.
​

Our Visitation & Reporting Service will be arranged to meet your/your loved one(s) needs:

  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly 
  • Quarterly 
  • Bi-Annually
  • Annually
  • One-time occasion
  • As-needed basis: to be determined based on situation

Colleen Beard is a board-certified patient advocate through the Patient Advocate Certification Board and a Beyond Driving with Dignity professional through Keeping Us Safe. 

She has more than twenty years experience advocating for aging individuals and clients of all ages living with disabilities and serious illness/injuries that have resulted in countless hours spent in hospitals, group homes, nursing homes, and more. She knows what to look for and how to navigate - even the toughest of situations - and is passionate about all individuals receiving quality care. Beard is an empathetic and relentless advocate for patients and residents - especially those individuals that don't have a strong voice of their own.
